Description
I’ve always wanted a Euphorbia. The common name is “Crown of Thorns” and its deadly spiked stalk is hidden behind a mass of luscious green leaves and the most delightfully innocent pink and coral flowers.
I used two color mixes for the majority of the plant. Daniel Smith Quinacridone Rose with a touch of New Gamboge for the blossoms and Daniel Smith Sap Green with a touch of Cobalt Blue for the foliage. The depth comes from a mixture of negative painting and multiple (MULTIPLE) thin glazing layers. I probably worked on this painting for over a week.
It is hard to understand the luminosity and depth this painting conveys by looking at an image on your screen. This piece will bring light and life into any room, becoming an instant focal point.
